How are you operating safely during COVID-19?

Bikes and equipment are cleaned and sanitised before each use. We hand over cycle hire equipment outside the centre, to minimise contact and risk. Equipment can only be booked online at the moment. We comply with all the government guidance on managing the risk of COVID-19.

Do I need to book in advance or just turn up?

We only have so many of each different type of bike and frame size,  so booking in advance is recommended to avoid disappointment. You are more than welcome to turn up and hire on the day, however, your choice will be limited to what is left available.

How do electric bikes work?

Electric bikes handle very similarly to a regular bike, but the motor gives you a huge power boost when you pedal; up to 280% on high mode. The average range is about 40 miles, and yes they really do help you get up and over the hills in the Lake District!

What happens if I cancel?

In the event of a cancellation we can reschedule the hire date, but unfortunately we can’t refund the hire fee. Full details can be found in our Terms & Conditions.

Can I pay cash?

Yes, but we still require a credit or debit card to act as a deposit.

What deposit and I.D. do you need?

We require a credit or debit card and photo I.D. to act as a deposit.

Where are you located?

We are based right on the platform of Windermere train station. Pay and display car parking is available.

What if I am late back?

No problem, you can simply return the bikes the following morning for an extra £5 per bike.

When does the hire time start?

We hire by the day from 9.30am to 4.30pm, so you can collect the bikes any time during those hours.

What is included in the hire?

We include helmets, locks, route advice, maps, map holders, safety briefing, pumps, puncture resistant tyres and a mechanical support service.
